Self-paced resources

We have some self-paced resources for learning about Moodle, that are located in Moodle. These are designed as an introduction to using the ‘virtual learning environment’ software at Bath and you can select each one below to see what’s included, and to access the resource link.

‘Staff area’ includes an overview on:
  • Moodle basics
  • User management

  • Other resources

All staff are enrolled automatically in this Moodle space and you can visit as many times as you need. Remember that your progress is automatically tracked and you can continue at any time that suits you. This space is also used to communicate important messages to staff about Moodle.

The TEL team can also deliver bespoke workshops – either designed by TEL or co-designed between TEL and the relevant teaching team. Please contact us via tel@bath.ac.uk with your requirements.

A departmental exploration of Moodle

These can be longer in-person or online workshops which aim to provide teaching staff with the opportunity to explore how a workflow or feature of Moodle can be used to enhance learning and teaching activity, in session design, activity design, or assessment and feedback design. If course teams are interested in arranging this kind of training, please contact the TEL team.

Main objectives:

  • Examine a Moodle feature in relation to a pedagogical use in your specific subject-based curriculum
  • Practice the skills needed to develop effective use of Moodle in your subject area
  • Create some practical, shareable and reusable examples of Moodle practice that can aid skills development across course teams
  • Identify future department needs that are of particular concern

Previous examples of workshops like this are:

  • Using rubrics or marking guides for advanced grading of Moodle Assignments
  • Designing Moodle templates for course team consistency
  • Integrating external tools within Moodle
  • Suitable for: course teams in the same department
