Pathways to Fellowship

The University of Bath’s Pathways to Fellowship scheme is designed to support you to achieve recognition for your experience and practice through the internationally-recognised Advance HE fellowship award. Pathways to Fellowship is accredited by Advance HE to award Associate Fellowships, Fellowships, and Senior Fellowships.

Find out more below about the specific pathways we have in place to support you:

Probationer Pathway

The Probationer Pathway is specifically designed for academic staff on probation. The pathway includes a programme of sessions that will help you develop your teaching practice, as well as make links from this to develop your fellowship application.

Experiential Pathway

The Experiential Pathway is open to all staff (not on probation) at Bath who wish to develop an application for Fellowship. Support and resources are provided to help you decide which category best matches your context and experience, and to develop your application.

Supporting your GTAs

Find your Fellowship Champion

We have a wonderful network of Fellowship Champions across departments and professional service areas. These colleagues will happily provide more information about applying for fellowship and will be able to help you as you develop your application.

Become a reviewer

If you have successfully achieved a fellowship award (minimum FHEA) and would like to support others in the institution to do similar, then you might consider becoming one of our team of reviewers.

Talk to the CLT Pathways team about the role and what is involved.

Further recognition opportunities

For staff interested in applying for Principal Fellowship, these applications are made directly through Advance HE. The CLT’s Pathways team will be happy to provide further guidance and support.

The University also considers staff annually for the prestigious National Teaching Fellowship award. If you would like to find out more about the award and the process for nomination, please contact Paul Chin (Head of Learning & Teaching, CLT).
