Using Marking Guides in Moodle

Marking Guides provide criterion based marking for Moodle Assignments. A comment can be added and a mark given for each criterion, up to a maximum.

Marking Guides offer various benefits to staff and students:  

• Clear marking criteria 
• Efficient marking (especially for large cohorts) 
• Use in combination with personalised feedback comments 
• Reusable and editable, with comment bank for frequently used feedback 

In this overview session we’ll cover: 

• Benefits of Marking Guides 
• How to set one up 
• Opportunity to mark a practice assignment 
• Comparison with Ranged Rubrics/Rubrics 
• Signposting to further support
