Event details:

Using Ranged Rubrics in Moodle

17th November 2025 (2:15 PM – 3:00 PM)

Ranged Rubrics and Rubrics provide criteria based marking for Moodle Assignments. The rubric consists of a set of criteria plotted against levels of achievement. A numeric grade or range is assigned to each level. For each criterion, the assessor selects the level they judge the work to have reached.

Rubrics can offer various benefits to staff and students:

  • Clear marking criteria
  • Efficient marking (especially for large cohorts)
  • Use in combination with personalised feedback comments
  • Customisable and reusable

In this overview session we’ll cover:

  • Benefits of ranged rubrics/rubrics
  • How to set one up
  • Opportunity to mark a practice assignment
  • Comparison with Marking Guides
  • Signposting to further support
