01 – Introduction to Probation Pathway to Fellowships (Pathways)

Target Audience: Mandatory and only available to Lecturers on academic probation. This session must be attended before engaging with the other core sessions in the programme.

Session Information

This session is offered twice a year. In this session, you will:

  • Meet members of the team supporting your development
  • Be introduced to key aspects of the Pathways programme
  • Find out how to start planning your engagement with programme and planning your sessions, how to engage with it and what you need to do to complete it
  • Identify support available to you on your Pathway
  • Meet fellow participants, share your views about starting your HE teaching practice and network
  • Opportunity to address core teaching and learning practices for early teaching activities (e.g. using technology, delivering your first teaching session)
  • Ask questions

We recommend attending this session in person, but if you cannot make it, or you have started work at the university mid-semester and are on a 1-year probation, there is an asynchronous version you can start with. Please email acdev@bath.ac.uk to enrol.

Learning Outcomes

After attending this session, you will be able to

  • Become familiar with key points and processes of the programme – understand how to plan your sessions, where to find key information, how to manage your schedule of studies on programme and know key requirements (outputs i.e. attend sessions, senior observation, submit application) of programme
  • Gain awareness of the support available and know where to find it, who to ask for help
  • Acquire some practical T&L tips for the start of the semester

You will be advised of any preparatory work a week before delivery.
