06 – Creating Positive Learning Environments: Inclusive Learning and Teaching
Target Audience: Mandatory and only available to Lecturers on academic probation.
Session Information
In this session we will explore how to develop our inclusive teaching practice in a way that is impactful, whilst also being sustainable for busy academics. We will unpack the language around inclusivity and consider how we translate policy into effective practice which supports the needs of all learners. We will explore how to identify patterns in barriers to learning across the student cohort, as well as apply a range of strategies to remove, reduce and rethink these barriers for our learners.
Learning Outcomes
1. Identify patterns in student needs across the whole student cohort.
2. Explore workable interventions to address barriers to learning which will support all learners.
3. Apply a range of transferable strategies to promote cultural, cognitive and physical inclusion in our own teaching contexts.
Preparatory work or pre-session expectations
Select and bring a digital or printed version of a slide deck you currently use/have used for teaching.
You will be sent any preparatory work a week before delivery.
