Target Audience: Mandatory and only available to Lecturers on academic probation.
In this session we will focus on different types of feedback (formal/informal and formative/summative); the medium through which feedback might be communicated, and the impact of feedback tone and focus. Participants will also discuss the type of feedback students prefer and the importance of designing sustainable workflows for marking and providing feedback.
1. Identify features of useful feedback.
2. Recognise the types of feedback students value.
3. Evaluate the tone and focus of your own feedback.
4. Reflect on methods to make your feedback workflow more manageable.
Please bring a short piece of anonymised written feedback (or example of verbal feedback) that you have given to a student(s) that you would be happy to share with your peers. Alternatively, please bring an example of anonymised feedback you have received yourself.
You should be reminded of the preparatory work a week before delivery and sent joining instructions.
