Student Quick Guide - Using Moodle
How to Login to Moodle
Moodle is the University's online learning platform. When you login to Moodle you will find separate Moodle spaces for each of your units. Your Tutors will use Moodle to give you information (via Announcements and other notifications), and to provide online activities and learning materials for your class.
To login to Moodle you will need your University username and password. For instructions watch the video below, or you can read step-by-step guidance.
Finding your units
After logging in you'll arrive at your Home page. Under the My Courses heading any courses that you are enrolled in will be listed in alphabetical order. If you can't find a course, you can search for it using the search box in the top right-hand corner. You can search for our course by name or (if you know it) by unit code. You can also access courses more quickly, from the My Courses dropdown heading where your courses are listed by their Moodle 'short name'.
Navigating Moodle
The video below gives you a quick tour of navigation in Moodle:
Edit Moodle profile and manage notifications
You can edit your Moodle profile to let your classmates and Tutors know a little bit more about you by viewing the video below, which also contains guidance on how to configure and manage the notifications that Moodle will send to you to keep you updated about important announcements and other course events related to your studies.
Communicating in Moodle Forums
Your Tutors may often use News Forums in Moodle to communicate essential information about your studies to you. Forums might also be used to provide you with a place to discuss your work, or to answer frequently asked questions. Make sure you configure your notification preferences using the video above to help ensure that you don't miss anything important. You can then watch the video below to see how to use Moodle forums to post and reply to discussions with your classmates and Tutors.
Submitting an Assignment
The video below shows how you can submit a file to an Assignment submission link in Moodle.
