Event Details

This course will outline what you need to know about managing copyrighted material within your PhD thesis. Higher Education and Research exceptions to UK copyright law will be explained.
This course emphasises the importance of considering copyright throughout all stages of the thesis – it is not something to only consider in the last few months before submission.
By placing a completed thesis onto our Institutional Repository it becomes a published work with the correspondingly higher risk of breaching copyright.
After attending this workshop, you will have a more rounded understanding of copyright within the higher education context, with particular reference to digital material.
Learning outcomes:
An understanding of third party copyright
An understanding of how to seek permission to use copyrighted material
Placing your thesis into Institutional Repository (PURE)
Implications of commercial vs. non-commercial research
