Event Details

This workshop will provide an overview about how to find journal articles and conference proceedings about physics and related disciplines. This will be an interactive session with time for you to devise a search reflecting your research area and search the databases relevant to your research.

The first part of the workshop will take a detailed look at INSPEC, one of the most definitive databases for subject-specific and interdisciplinary research in physics and related disciplines. INSPEC also includes literature in electrical engineering and electronics, computers and information technology and mechanical and production engineering. You are welcome to attend if you are interested in searching for literature in these fields.

We will then look at features within SPIE Digital Library, one of the largest collections of optics and photonics applied research.  If this is not relevant to your research area, you are welcome to attend the first part of the session only.

After attending this workshop you will:

·         be able to formulate search strategies and use database features to search for literature more effectively

·         be able to use alerting features within relevant databases to keep up to date with literature in your subject
