Event Details

Course Description:

This is a hands-on workshop using SciVal – a sophisticated research analytics tool. We will explore how publication, citation and co-authorship data can be used to build a model of a research area, identifying relevant journals, institutions and authors.

Intended learning outcomes:
• Model your research area in SciVal
• Use publication and citation data to identify and evaluate journals, institutions and researchers active in your research area (including understanding of the limitations of publication and citation data for assessing research quality)
• Be able to identify researchers around the world who are actively publishing in your research area

Staff also registered as a Doctoral Student at the University of Bath cannot take part in the programme. The Doctoral College offers development opportunities (http://www.bath.ac.uk/learningandteaching/rdu/courses/pgskills/skills-development/index.html) for Doctoral students.
