Highly recommended for: researchers who want to learn the fundamental ideas for effective influence, negotiation and relationships

Influencing or negotiating along management lines, or with colleagues, collaborators and friends
and family can be a source of real frustration or conflict when it falls flat or yields an unsatisfactory
compromise. So, what to do?

By the end, you will have explored and learned:

• What’s motivating you and others you wish to influence
• How to manage yourself so you can engage constructively
• How to listen to better understand others
• Used simple tools to enhance your chances of success
• A simple model for working with others

This highly interactive workshop is all about practice, learning and application to real situations – not merely about theory or hypotheticals. To make the most of the experience, and ensure the content is relevant, personalised and memorable, you’ll need to be participating fully and actively engaging through the 3 h event. This will give you the most opportunity to make a positive difference with what we cover.

Accordingly, please arrive ready to participate fully, to think, share your thoughts and questions and see how these essential ideas and tools can be made to work for you.

This workshop will be delivered on Zoom. A url will be sent in a calendar invite 5 working days in advance.

This session is managed by Researcher Development, contact resdev@bath.ac.uk with any queries.

A record of your attendance will be uploaded to iTrent for staff development purposes. Please indicate in the ‘Specific Requirements’ box when booking if you do not wish for your attendance to be uploaded to iTrent.
