Event Details

Developed by the American Psychological Association (APA), PsycINFO is the key index for psychology and the psychological aspects of other disciplines, including business, education, engineering, health, linguistics, pharmacology, social work, sociology and sport. PsycINFO indexes journal articles, book chapters, books and theses.

The APA’s PsycEXTRA indexes professional material that is not published in peer-reviewed journals, such as technical reports, conference papers and newsletters. This material is sometimes called grey literature or fugitive literature.

Searching in the indexes can be enhanced by the application of the APA Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms, which uses a structured hierarchy of terms to describe the concepts in the indexed literature.

This workshop will give you a detailed overview of how to find documents with PsycINFO and PsycEXTRA.

After attending this workshop, you will:

  • be able to perform a literature search more effectively
  • be able to use the alerting features to up-to-date in your subject area
