Event Details
This workshop will give you a detailed overview of how to use the Embase database to find journal articles in pharmacy, pharmacology and health-related areas. You can use Embase to search 8,500 journals from over 95 countries: this includes MEDLINE content. There are approximately 3000 indexed journals unique to Embase. It also indexes Cochrane reviews and selected conferences.
There are many different ways of searching for a topic using Embase. We will take a look at all of them including Quick Search, EMTREE subject headings and the PICO search form. We’ll look at how to use limits and filters and other strategies to reduce the number of search results. You will also learn how to save your searches, set up search alerts and export references to EndNote.
After attending this workshop, you will:
- understand the advantages of searching Embase over PubMed
- be able to perform a literature search more effectively
- be able to use the alerting features to keep up to date
