Probationers: Choice Session for those on a contract of more than 18 months, (priority will be offered to probationers, if the session proves very popular).

Of interest to: any staff at any point in teaching career

What is innovation in higher education?
How should we cultivate new ideas which encourage creativity and collaboration?
How might innovation improve both student engagement and student learning outcomes?
How does technology support innovation?
How should we recognise and reward educational innovation?
What are possible barriers to innovation?

We will use case-studies from Bath as examples of innovative teaching and learning approaches and reflect on your experiences to consider these questions.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise examples of innovative teaching and learning.
  • Reflect on the role and characteristics of individuals responsible for innovative teaching and learning approaches.
  • Consider how an innovative idea moves from concept to action.
